Windows XP
Choose 'Add a printer' from the Printers and Faxes control panel.
In the Add Printer wizard, choose to add a local printer, *not* a network printer (strange, but true).
You will probably need to choose the 'Create a new port' option. Create a 'Standard TCP/IP Port' as the port type.
Use 169.229.213.75 as the IP Address. The device type is "Hewlett Packard Jet Direct".
The printer software to use is Manufacturer 'HP', Printer 'HP LaserJet 2430 Series PCL6'. You might have to click on the 'Windows Update' button to update the list of available printers in order to find this model.
Mac OS X
If you are using a wired connection in the Linguistics Department, your computer might discover the 'Linguistics' printer automatically. If it doesn't, the following guidelines should help you add the printer regardless of your connection type:
When you choose to add a printer in the Printer utility (find it in the System Preferences panel and click the '+' button), add an IP Printer. Use the HP Jet Direct protocol and (IP) Address 169.229.213.75. Give it a friendly name like 'Linguistics' if you like.
